The Large Munsterlander Club has a keen interest in the health of the breed, and have set up a health sub-committee, anyone with any concerns, or simply wanting advice or explanations are invited to contact them.

The British Veterinary Association have a website where you can find explanations of the procedures involved in scoring for conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, or hereditary cataracts.

And the Animal Health Trust are currently looking into DNA research to identify the gene responsible for

Hereditary Cataracts within the breed.  Any Large Munsterlander (but especially those affected or closely related to an affected) can supply DNA to the AHT by a simple cheek swab for more details or a kit contact the L.M.C.

(see link below)

Again, any committee member of the Large Munsterlander Club would be happy to discuss any questions

you may have regarding the health of the breed.
